Re: Electric Bikes/Scooters & Non-Electric Bikes/Scooters
This memo provides clarification on provincial (MTO) legislation and local enforcement (Hamilton Police Service) regarding student use of e-bikes and e-scooters, and outlines expectations for schools related to storage and use on school property.
Dear Families!
E-Bikes and E-Scooters (Students Under 16) Students under 16 cannot legally operate e-bikes or e-scooters. Schools must ensure these devices are not brought onto or stored on school property, while continuing to support the safe use of non-electric bicycles and scooters using designated racks.
Non-Electronic Bicycles and Scooters Students may continue to bring non-electric bicycles and non electric scooters to school. These items must be stored on designated outdoor bike racks only and must not be brought into school buildings.
